Happy Thanksgiving from the hi-desert!

I wish every one of you could be with us around the Red Bench today and join in our Thanksgiving feast! Of course, it would also be Danksgiving, because we would be smoking a lot of herb, you can be sure of that!

I’m thankful for many things this year, and one of the biggest things I’m thankful for is this project! Red Bench Reviews – which is just over five months old now, has added such an amazing dimension to my herb smoking experiences. I actually get higher while I’m filming a review than any other time because I get so focused on the herb. Thinking in-depth about smells, tastes, and the effects has expanded my appreciation of the herb and made my highs so much better!

This project has been one of the most enjoyable things Tania and I have worked on together in years… and that’s saying a lot, because we’ve always had a great time creating together over the last thirty-four years – and that is the blessing that tops my Thanksgiving list – LOVE!

Love

Many people achieve all kind of successes in life… they get degrees, they build companies, they have lots of children and grow a family, they accumulate lots of money… my hat is off to them. But that’s not the road Tania and I took. I have no degree and no big company, we have no children and we’re still waiting for our financial ship to come in! We took the love road and put the magic we create together before all other goals.

To get to where we are today we chose love over everything else, and we have succeeded beyond my wildest dreams. If success is a measure of how well you achieve your goals, then we nailed it! I rave about that humbly, because I know we are extremely blessed to have found true love in a world that seems to be set against real love blossoming.

Herb

Here’s something else to be excited and thankful for that’s blossoming out there in the world – cannabis legalization… I believe it’s coming in 2021 – I’m pretty sure of it! This last election proved that legalization is a winner issue, and now we are on the verge of federal legalization.

Latest polls show that 68% of the adult, voting population is in favor of legalization, and the politicians are starting to pay attention. When legalization happens the cannabis market will go nationwide, and as someone whose fought for legalization for many years, this is truly something to be thankful for!

Relationships

As a dedicated and enthusiastic herb smoker, I am blessed to be on this journey with a person who supports me completely. Tania rarely smokes the herb, but she knows how important this plant is to my life and well-being. This has always been the case, and she has supported me on my journey to mental wellness and stability all along the way – especially when it comes to medical marijuana and depression.

Not only am I blessed to have Tania as my co-pilot, but I have a bunch of good friends that know me for who I am, love me, and support me in my many creative endeavors. True friendships are one of the most valuable commodities we possess, because they can’t be bought – they can only be earned or given. My life is rich because of the friends I have. For this I am absolutely thankful!

Silver Linings

I have not appreciated this year – not one bit! I don’t need to point out all the ways this year sucked because you know it. I know it. Everyone knows it.

But for Thanksgiving Day let’s flip the script for a moment. Let’s talk about the silver linings…

Without the COVID stay-at-home orders there would be no Red Bench Reviews – it just wouldn’t of happened. We got hit with Tania being laid off to part-time in April, and through July she was able to be home every other week, and also getting an extra $600 a week from unemployment!

When we got struck with the idea of doing video cannabis reviews back in June we had both the time and the money to launch the project – it was an amazing bit of timing! We were able to get the equipment we needed and invest in this project… and here we are!

For this I am thankful – how 2020 has unfolded… but only on this personal level. I am aware that in the larger picture, 2020 was a disaster. I mourn the numerous losses, both of life and financially, that many people have experienced. It is because of these many things that Thanksgiving 2020 is the most bittersweet holiday I’ve ever experienced…

In spite of the 2020 zeitgeist – I hope all of you have a great day, feast on delicious food and smoke herb until you can’t smoke any more! That’s what I’ll be doing… 😉
